Al Yanković’S Albumim Hardwear Store Is A Strange One?

4.5 rating based on 137 ratings

Weird Al Yankovic’s 11th studio album, Poodle Hat, features a song called “Hardware Store” from the album. The song tells the story of Yankovic’s visit to a recently opened hardware store and his exploration of the store’s items. The song is one of the original tracks from the album and has been used by fans to create their own music videos and on sites like YTMND.

Poodle Hat is Yankovic’s fifth studio album self-produced and features musical styles built around parodies and pastiches of early-2000s pop. The lead single, “Couch Potato”, is a parody of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”. However, the single failed to chart.

Al has never performed “Hardware Store” live due to the impossibility of the fast part (“They’ve got allen wrenches, gerbil feeders”) and Yankovic’s inability to sing it. The album’s best tracks include “Hardware Store”, Trash Day, Angry White Boy Polka, Wanna B Ur Lovr, Ode to a Superhero, and Genius in France.

The song has received high ratings from 100 users, with a running time of 3:44 and a genre of alternative rock. The song can be found on Spotify and JioSaavn. The album also includes the English music album “The Essential” by Yankovic.

Is 'Weird Al' Yankovic Working On A New Album?

On September 30, 2013, TMZ reported that "Weird Al" Yankovic was in New York City working on a new album. By June 15, 2014, he announced the return of his new song "Polkamania!"—a four-minute medley encompassing 12 pop hits from the past decade, including Billie Eilish. Although representatives were tight-lipped, rumors circulated about Yankovic's potential return to music after the release of a surprise album, his first full-length project in over eight years.

This release coincided with the soundtrack for his biopic. The artist, now 64, expressed skepticism about future albums, highlighting that his last original material came a decade prior, with "Mandatory Fun," which achieved remarkable success.

Yankovic mentioned in an interview with Spin that he might be finished with conventional albums and would prefer to create music sporadically. He confirmed through a Vulture Festival discussion with Jonah Ray that new music is on the horizon for the following year. While he released a new song recently, his career path seems to shift away from full album production. Yankovic reflected on his legacy and the ten-year anniversary of "Mandatory Fun," suggesting a new direction for his artistry.

Despite speculation and anticipation from fans, he indicated that, while he will continue to produce music, the conventional album process may not be in his plans moving forward. He aims to keep engaging with his audience through new singles rather than the traditional album format.

  • I think this might be my favorite parody of Weird Al’s. There are others that are objectively better but this one threw me for a loop. Starts as an infomercial song about tin foil, to suddenly cracking the codes of conspiracies and just as I’m going “What do conspiracies have to do with tin foil?” he brings it back at the exact moment my brain realized the connection. It just worked.

  • LYRICS: I never seem to finish all my food I always get a doggie bag from the waiter So I just keep what’s still unchewed And I take it home, save it for later But then I deal with fungal rot, bacterial formation Microbes, enzymes, mould and oxidation I don’t care, I’ve got a secret trick up my sleeve I never bother with baggies, glass jars, tupperware containers Plastic cling wrap, really a no-brainer I just like to keep all my flavours sealed in tight With aluminum foil (Foil) Never settle for less That kind of wrap is just the best To keep your sandwich nice and fresh Stick it in your cooler (Cooler) Eat it when you’re ready Then maybe you’ll choose (You’ll choose, you’ll choose, you’ll choose) A refreshing herbal tea Mmm, lovely! Oh, by the way, I’ve cracked the code I’ve figured out these shadow organizations And the Illuminati know That they’re finally primed for world domination And soon you’ve got black helicopters comin’ cross the border Puppet masters for the New World Order Be aware: There’s always someone that’s perusal you And still the government won’t admit they faked the whole moon landing Thought control rays, psychotronic scanning Don’t mind that, I’m protected cause I made this hat From aluminum foil (Foil) Wear a hat that’s foil lined In case an alien’s inclined To probe your butt or read your mind Looks a bit peculiar (‘culiar) Seems a little crazy But someday I’ll prove (I’ll prove, I’ll prove, I’ll prove) There’s a big conspiracy

  • This may sound cheesy, but i found this song because my gf son wanted to make a article with this song and his little worm toys dancing, it got stuck in my head, and now i love it. It’s refreshing to hear a regular song that isn’t talking about crap, sex, drugs, depressing topics, i just love the horns and i like Dr worm he seems like a great worm, he’s nice and optimistic, it’s just a feel good song that doesn’t bring me down.

  • This song must have been written and designed by my mother-in-law. Everything you describe, she has said for the past 72 years she only believes in aluminum foil and everything in the freezer is wrapped even sometime in plastic Ziploc bags and then aluminum foil and then with a black zippo, she writes like a date and what’s in it. Thank you for the good work.
