CSK, a popular franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is owned by India Cements Limited and its holding company, Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited. The Barbados Tridents are now renamed to Barbados Royals under this deal, making them the third IPL franchise to buy a stake in CPL. The Crickets, an American rock and roll band formed by Buddy Holly in 1957, are also owned by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd., a subsidiary of India Cements Ltd., led by former ICC Chairman N. Srinivasan.
In the latest edition of The Think Tank on Cricbuzz Plus, the question of who owns cricket is explored. In older literature, “crickets” were placed at the family level, but contemporary authorities like Otte now place them in the cricket cercal sensory system.
The Crickets were Buddy Holly’s group from 1956 to 1958, contributing significantly to his sound and success. The Crickets are 1/4″ tiny and are owned by India Cements Ltd., Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd., and Jeff Armstrong as the owner and operator of the Georgia farm.

Who Owns The MLC?
Most sports leagues in the U. S. feature one or more owners per league; however, Major League Cricket (MLC) operates differently. MLC has no league owner; rather, it comprises individual team owners. The Texas Super Knights, for example, are owned by the Chennai Super Kings, Anurag Jain, and Ross Perot Jr. MLC Asset Management involves various businesses and partners, with investment managers transitioning from NAB Group to IOOF Group. Initially, MLC launched with six teams under a single-entity structure, owned by ACE, with investor-operators assigned to each team. Future plans include expanding to ten teams.
A significant portion of MLC franchises are owned by Indian investors, with ties to IPL teams. High-profile owners include Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, with a combined wealth of $126 billion. Recently, American Cricket Enterprises disclosed the founding investor group for MLC, detailing investments from notable figures like PayTM founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. The franchises in New York, Texas, and Seattle are affiliated with illustrious IPL franchises like the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals, respectively.
In a different context, The Mechanical Licensing Collective (also referred to as MLC) is a nonprofit established under the Music Modernization Act of 2018, aimed at ensuring proper royalties for songwriters and composers. With ties to Insignia Financial Group and significant investments, MLC plays a critical role within the music industry as well.
When Does Major League Cricket Start?
Major League Cricket (MLC) was established in January 2019 and commenced its inaugural season on July 13, 2023, culminating with the championship match on July 30. The league, sanctioned by USA Cricket and operated by American Cricket Enterprises, features six professional teams competing in an 18-game tournament held at Grand Prairie Stadium. The tournament follows a single round-robin format with each team playing against the others once, leading into a playoff phase of four matches.
The schedule for MLC 2023 includes most games starting at 6:00 AM, with some matches beginning at 1:00 AM and 12:30 AM. The first match on July 13 saw Texas Super Kings triumph over the Los Angeles Knight Riders. Subsequently, plans were announced for the 2024 season, which will kick off on July 5, shortly after the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This second season will also feature six teams: MI New York, Texas Super Kings, LA Knight Riders, Seattle Orcas, Washington Freedom, and San Francisco Unicorns.
The second edition is set to run from July 5 to July 28, 2024. It will consist of additional matches compared to the first season, emphasizing the growth of cricket in the United States. The championship final for this season is scheduled to be held at Grand Prairie Stadium on July 29. Fans can track match scores, schedules, and results on platforms like ESPNcricinfo.
Overall, Major League Cricket aims to promote and develop the sport within the USA, engaging local audiences while also attracting international players and attention to the emerging cricket scene. With a clear structure and increasing popularity, MLC is poised to become a staple in American sports.
Is There A Way To Make Crickets Stop Chirping?
Handling chirping crickets can be challenging. If one is indoors, gently relocate it outside; they are drawn to warmth and light, so turning off lights and lowering the temperature may help. Creating white noise can also mask the sound. The guide provides 10 effective strategies to cease coughing, enhancing peace in your home. For outdoor crickets, various techniques can restore tranquility. To mitigate nighttime chirping, consider a white noise machine or a fan.
Crickets chirp at night primarily for communication and avoiding predators. One effective method to manage noise involves setting traps and erecting physical barriers to limit their access to living spaces. Keeping crickets away from bedrooms can help prevent sleep disturbances. Although commonly depicted as rubbing their hind legs together, crickets create sounds largely through a different mechanism. Placing honey on wet cardboard inside a trap can efficiently capture them.
Additionally, eliminating food and water sources can thwart cricket survival. Reducing temperatures and using baits or essential oils can further deter these pests. Cleaning hiding spots and encouraging natural predators also prove advantageous. Consider soundproofing with materials like acoustic foam to diminish noise from their enclosure. In extreme cases, earplugs offer personal relief. It’s advisable to employ smaller crickets or simulate daylight to prevent their chirping. With patience, localized efforts to locate and halt individual chirps may prove effective, transforming a noisy environment into a quieter one.
How Many Professional Cricket Teams Are In The MLC?
Major League Cricket (MLC), officially named Cognizant MLC for sponsorship purposes, is a professional Twenty20 cricket league based in the United States, operated by American Cricket Enterprises and sanctioned by USA Cricket. The league features six competitive teams: Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York, San Francisco Unicorns, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, and Washington Freedom. The MLC aims to expand cricket's popularity in the US, beginning its inaugural season in July 2023 with plans for a second season in 2024.
Each MLC squad consists of 16 to 19 players, permitting a maximum of nine overseas players. This blend of international T20 stars and domestic talent is designed to enhance the league's competitive spirit. A total of 54 US-based players were selected during the MLC Domestic Player Draft held in March.
The league has also highlighted its significance by establishing a connection with the Minor League Cricket (MiLC), which concluded its first season in 2021. Six teams will contest in MLC 2024, with matches set to be held in Texas and North Carolina from July 5 to 28.
The MLC is positioned uniquely among American sports leagues, deviating from the traditional ownership model and showcasing international talent within the framework of the league. As it continues to progress, MLC aspires to draw in larger audiences and grow cricket's footprint within the United States.
Can You Release Crickets From The Pet Store?
DON'T RELEASE! It's vital to remember not to release pets or live feeder insects into the wild, as they can disrupt local ecosystems. The ethical and legal approach to handling unwanted pets is by re-homing them or taking them to a shelter. Notably, adult crickets typically survive for just over two weeks; therefore, releasing them outside is inadvisable. Brown crickets, common in pet stores, are non-native to many areas in the U. S. and may carry pathogens from exotic sources. If you no longer want to keep crickets, humane euthanasia is recommended.
Historically, the release of crickets has roots in ancient customs, but modern practices caution against it. Proper care for pet store crickets requires adequate air circulation and fresh food to ensure survival. High humidity can lead to their demise. In the past, crickets rescued from crowded pet stores were released into backyards, which raises further concerns about their impact on local wildlife.
Additionally, individuals are urged to avoid releasing store-bought crickets into the environment. Pet ownership entails responsibility, and it’s advisable to source crickets from responsible vendors. While crickets can serve as hunting practice for pets like cats, it's essential to ensure they are fed appropriately (preferably, gut-loaded food instead of cardboard).
There are alternatives to extermination, such as using sticky traps or offering them to people interested in feeding them to pets. When dealing with unwanted crickets, always check local regulations before considering release. Remember, crickets from pet stores are often undernourished and not suitable for survival outside. In summary, to protect the environment and ensure ethical treatment of pets, DON'T RELEASE! Always seek humane solutions.
What Happens To Male Crickets After Mating?
Male crickets engage in guarding behavior immediately after copulation to stay near their mates, using tactics such as standing next to the female, frequent antennating, and searching when she moves. During mating, males produce a loud chirping sound to attract females, which is more intense than non-mating chirps. Males are generally smaller than females, making them easier to identify. Mating occurs primarily in late spring and early summer at night when males sing to call females, with courtship lasting up to an hour.
This process of "stridulation" involves males rubbing their wings (tegmina) to create attractive sounds. Particularly, in Pacific field crickets (Teleorgryllus oceanicus), males sing to draw mates, with only males capable of chirping several song variations to establish hierarchy among themselves. Once attracted, mating is essential for egg production in females. Male and female crickets achieve sexual maturity days after reaching adulthood, with males producing sperm in their testes and females storing eggs in their ovaries.
Interestingly, while the common belief is that male crickets guard females to prevent rival mating, studies indicate that they may linger to protect females from predation instead. Male crickets may risk their lives to shield prospective mates, and in some cases, females consume the males post-mating. Such behaviors reflect significant investment from males, including time and energy, to ensure successful mating and fertilization, ultimately enhancing reproductive fitness. Eggs and pupae then overwinter in the ground, restarting their lifecycle in spring.
Where Will The New Zealand Cricket Team Build Their Home Ground?
The team is set to establish its home ground at Marine Park in Brooklyn, New York, with a planned capacity of 10, 000 for the cricket venue. Coaching this team is former South African spinner, Robin Peterson. A long-standing debate over the primary home of New Zealand cricket persists, with the Basin Reserve in Wellington currently favored. The ongoing transformation of Western Springs into the so-called "Home of New Zealand Cricket" has faced a budget increase to $91 million, rekindling discussions about the venue's authenticity. Plans to develop Colin Maiden Park into a venue similar to Hagley Oval are progressing under the guidance of Auckland Cricket and local council.
The Basin Reserve, a historic cricket ground recognized with Heritage New Zealand listing, is primarily used for Test matches and serves as the Wellington Firebirds' home base. New Zealand Cricket will ultimately decide the future of player venue selections between a traditional approach and the inclusion of Colin Maiden as a legitimate Test venue. As international matches return to Eden Park in 2025, the landscape of cricket venues is in transition.
Under new captain Latham, players like O'Rourke and Ravindra are rising, with various international teams, including England and Sri Lanka, gearing up for matches. The Canterbury Cricket Umpires Association Pavilion, one of New Zealand's oldest sports structures, remains a fixture at the ground. As the 2024-25 international summer approaches, expressions of interest for roles like Ground Announcer are being sought.
How Many Of The Original Crickets Are Still Alive?
Jerry Allison, the last surviving member of Buddy Holly's band The Crickets, passed away on Monday. The news was shared on the official Buddy Holly Facebook page. Born in Hillsboro, Texas, on August 31, 1939, Allison relocated to Lubbock at the age of ten. After the band's formation, rhythm guitarist Niki Sullivan departed to focus on education, leaving Allison and bassist Joe Mauldin in Lubbock. The trio of Buddy Holly (lead guitar and vocals), Allison (drums), and Mauldin continued to perform and made television appearances until Holly moved to New York.
Following the tragic death of Holly in 1959, the remaining original members saw a series of changes: Sullivan passed away in 2004, and Mauldin in 2017. The Crickets had been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14, 2012. Allison, who contributed as a drummer and co-writer on several hits, held the distinction of being the last living member of the original band lineup, marking the end of an era in rock and roll history. The Crickets, renowned as an influential American rock and roll band, left a significant legacy with their music and impact on the genre.
Why Did Buddy Holly'S Wife Not Attend His Funeral?
On February 3, 1959, Buddy Holly, along with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, tragically died in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa. His widow, María Elena Holly (née Santiago), learned of his death from the news, leading to immense grief and a miscarriage the following day, preventing her from attending Holly's funeral in Lubbock, Texas. Understandably distraught, María Elena was bedridden and felt unable to manage the trip to the funeral.
Misunderstandings arose in Lubbock regarding her absence, with some interpreting it as a lack of respect. Yet, María Elena stated simply, "Because Buddy's not there," emphasizing her belief that she could not face the grave of someone who was no longer present.
María Elena met Buddy while working as a receptionist at Peermusic, and they quickly fell in love, marrying just two months after their first date on August 15, 1958. Following his unexpected death, she felt deep remorse, partly blaming herself since she had chosen not to accompany him on the ill-fated tour due to feeling unwell, and only discovered she was pregnant afterward.
In the years following the tragedy, María Elena married Puerto Rican government official Joe Diaz and had three children. Despite her subsequent life, she has never visited Buddy's grave or attended his funeral services, a decision shaped by intense emotional turmoil. Her experience encapsulates the profound impact of loss and grief, illustrating the complex emotions surrounding such a public tragedy and her personal pain.

The invasion at our southern border has been going on for nearly 4 years. Arizona recognized this huge increase first, as well as Texas. The past couple of years our other states are being impacted like Colorado and Ohio. We cannot continue this trend of invasion, no vetting or processing immigrants.
I visited the Shanksville 9/11 site on September 2, 2002. It was just an open field with a large American flag on the spot where the plane crashed, and there was a make-shift wooden memorial board for those who wanted to leave a note or anything else to honor those who lost their lives on that on horrifying day. There was no parking lot for visitors either, everyone had to park on the side of a country road. Amazing what it looks like today. God bless America!

All American patriots, which isn’t just Republicans, need to get out and vote for Trump. Everyone with a political desire to save this country needs to make sure they vote. And preferably for Trump. The Democrats need to feel a resounding and overwhelming dismissal of the far left Democrat ideology. Not just at the presidential level. But in all levels of government. Vote. Vote. Vote!!!
As a vietnam era veteran who is fortunate enough to have excellent retired medical coverage so I don’t have to use the VA system, I think it would be a great idea to do away with routine medical care through the VA. For those who do not have the ability for other care and need full time care the VA still has a place.

The first time I tried crickets, it was surprisingly tough. Maybe not to this level, but once it was in my hand there was a part of me that really didn’t want to do it. They really aren’t that bad, though. I’d gotten some that were bacon and cheddar flavored, but the flavor that came through the strongest was like toasted pumpkin seeds. Rather nice.
