Does VW Still Make A Beetle Fender?

How Many Pink Beetles Were Made?

Volkswagen has introduced the 2017 PinkBeetle as a limited edition model, with only 100 units produced—50 coupes and 50 convertibles. This striking pink Beetle stands out as the first factory-offered pink car in VW's history, emphasizing the brand's embrace of the color. Initially, the PinkBeetle is based on the Beetle Trendline and features special enhancements, such as unique 18" wheels, bi-xenon headlights, and dual-zone climate control. The car includes distinctive interior accents with pink stitching and trim.

Historically, pink Beetles were custom-painted by enthusiasts, but the official PinkBeetle caters to a growing demand for such vibrant options. Additionally, Volkswagen of Mexico produced these cars at their Puebla plant—not through an official production run, creating a very rare offer with only 13 ever manufactured. The 2017 PinkBeetle is powered by a 1. 8-liter turbocharged direct-injection TSI® engine, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission.

While the car is designed to attract a female demographic, it’s a collectible edition that celebrates the Beetle’s legacy, which spans from 1938 to 2003, during which over 21 million original Beetles were built. This release not only highlights VW’s creativity but also marks a unique turning point in their design history.

Herbie cars are the most expensive Beetles, particularly those from the original 1960s films, while 2005's Herbie: Fully Loaded vehicles also hold significant value among pop-culture collectors. The most coveted models are the rare 1966 and 1967 Beetles, prized for their scarcity and condition, potentially fetching up to $50, 000. Also noteworthy is the 1965 Type II 21-Window Deluxe Bus, featured on Velocity Channel's Bitchin'. The Deluxe Cabriolet represents a luxurious evolution from the Type 1 Beetle, combining elegance with post-war driving experiences.

The Super Beetle, produced from 1971 to 1979, improved upon the standard model with enhancements like a larger hood and better suspension, making it highly desirable. When the Volkswagen Beetle first launched in Canada, its price was under $1, 600, but auction records now see this classic fetch immense sums. The rare 1952 Zwitter Bug, known for its hybrid design, is arguably the most sought-after Beetle, highlighting the immense value of certain classic models.

  • Hi Krysta ! The two beetle is so cool !! you know, I have a beetle of the same generation as the fender! this beetle will be a completely new project totally different from the other new beetles! but she is so cool! even if there is more work than on the new diesel beetle I think 😅! the new beetle diesel is also very beautiful! it does not have much damage but to see what the engine has in store…! Either way, you’ll make a good choice! even if I know that you prefer beetles less like the fender 😀! your articles are always awesome! it’s a pleasure to watch them 🥰

  • Well the old beetle looks good on the outside but given the age and it being a first generation new beetle there is probably a million mechanical issues with that car. The owner probably just threw in the towel on that one I think that black beetle would be your best bet. You can see that it’s mostly a cosmetic issue with that car. Mechanically it is probably in good shape. I have a 2012 VW beetle with 85k and it’s still in pretty sound car. Go with that black bug leave the other one alone. Btw I love your website I use to go to auctions just to look at old cars back in the day. The fact that you buy old bugs, restore them and give them a new begining is so cool!
